"SL'ESCH" tells the story of a young couple, he of Italian origin, she from Esch, and traces the evolution of the City of Esch and its Conservatory over time. The text, music, and musical choreographies have been entirely created by the Conservatory. The show will be performed by students and teachers from the Conservatory, across all departments.

"SL'ESCH" also offers a glimpse into the urban history of the city of Esch through the role of the Conservatory building, which once housed the Casino of the "Gelsenkirchener Bergwerks A.G." before being taken over by the Société des Mines Terres Rouges, a subsidiary of the ARBED group, which became an integral part of the group in the 1960s.

Originally conceived as a project of the Conservatory of Esch for Esch2022, European Capital of Culture, the musical is being revived for this first edition of the Biennale of Esch, Cultural Capital.
